We're opening Hogwarts late this year, as the students might have noticed. (I'm sure you have, Miss Granger.)
Although the Ministry asked us not to put this in your letters, they never said anything about not telling you at all, so here goes. They're all being beaurocratic gits. They have to make sure you're protected, so bugger if you're getting an education.
Oh, and Harry, dear? Professor Dumbledore and I have granted you a lifetime Quidditch reinstatement--his words. And Awards for Special Services to the School to you, Msseurs. Fred and George Weasley, and what I am informed you refer amongst yourselves to as 'the Ministry Crew'. Congratulations, all of you.

I have spent the entire summer not grading papers.
It's a wonderful feeling, I can assure you. Otherwise, I've mainly been preparing for the upcoming year, as well as doing some favours for some old friends.
I see many of my soon-to-be sixth-years have started using these journals even though it isn't required. I suppose Miss Granger has rubbed off on all of you; either that, or you enjoy writing in these wretched things.
Albus, I never know why you do these things until afterwords, so I'm sure you have an excellent reason, but I confess that right now I just can't see it!
Well, I need to go finish this syllabus.
